Faulkner University is seeking a qualified individual to serve as Assistant Dean for Spiritual Life. The selected candidate will serve in the Student Services division of the University to advance the spiritual formation of students through hands on campus ministry, through mentoring ministry students, through the development and maintenance of an effective, Christ-centered chapel program, as well as other vital spiritually formative initiatives. Faulkner University is a Christian university affiliated with churches of Christ.
This is a full-time (40+ hours per week), 12-month position.
Summary of Duties:
- Engage in hands on campus ministry through individual and small group Bible studies with students, provide pastoral counseling, minister spiritually to students who are in need of spiritual guidance, prayer, who are ill, injured, or who have emotional needs.
- Mentor ministry students and help train them to minister to students, faculty and staff.
- Provide leadership for a vibrant, relevant, innovative and consistent Chapel program to address the spiritual formation of students, and other members of the campus community
- Work closely with campus ministry directors at our local churches to foster spiritual growth opportunities for our students
- Assist with the University's Faith & Engagement efforts throughout the City of Montgomery
- Serve as liaison between Faulkner and local/regional churches
- Coordinate campus ministry efforts; to include but not limited to the oversight of campus chaplains, student devotionals and small group Bible studies
- Assist with the coordination of community service and engagement opportunities for students
- In partnership with Student Ministries, the College of Biblical Studies and the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, provide leadership for on-going assessment of spiritual values, attitudes, and practices of students, and the spiritual transformation that occurs during a student's experience at Faulkner
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, required; Master's degree in an area of ministry, preferred
- Three years experience and knowledge of audio/visual set up, preferred
- Active member of the church of Christ
- Due to the University's religious convictions regarding leadership in public worship assemblies, this position is required to be held by a male
