Faulkner University is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as Dean for the College of Health Sciences. The individual selected must demonstrate a commitment to Christ-centered Liberals Arts education, Christian service, and the mission of Faulkner University. This individual will serve as administrative head of the College of Health Sciences and will be responsible for planning, directing, organizing, and monitoring proper operation of the College. This position reports directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Faulkner University is a Christian university affiliated with churches of Christ.
This is a full-time (40+ hours per week), 12-month position. Faculty rank, tenure status and salary will be commensurate with academic qualifications, teaching experience and research.
Summary of Duties include:
- Oversee all academic, administrative and budgetary operations for the College
- Oversee the recruitment, retention, evaluation, and professional development of each faculty member within the College
- Partner with university officials to achieve compliance for all accreditation matters for the College
- Evaluate curriculum and syllabi; use results of these evaluations, when appropriate, to make changes and improvements to the curriculum
- Collaborate with university entities (both internal and external) to develop and implement effective and creative marketing strategies
- Be conversant with the policies of the specialized accreditations for each program within the College
- Strengthen relationships as the chief external representative for the College to the broader community, with healthcare partners, donors, alumni and friends
- Demonstrate ongoing involvement in and knowledge of current trends in educational methodologies
- Collaborate and partner with student services and student success offices and entities (internal and external) to plan, develop and assess retention efforts for the College's students
- Collaborate with Admissions and Program Directors to promote and support student recruitment for all programs within the College
- Oversee all public relations, as well as all published information (e.g. catalogs, websites, handbooks, etc.) pertaining to the College for accuracy and marketability
- Work with the Vice President for Academic Affairs, faculty, staff, students, and other administrators to develop and implement short and long term academic objectives and procedures for the College of Health Sciences
- Teach one class each fall and spring semester to support the academic programs of the institution
Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution required
- Demonstrated academic administrative experience at a baccalaureate or higher degree granting institution or senior-level administrative experience in a health-care discipline preferred
- Experience with program-specific accreditation processes preferred
- A record of teaching, research, and scholarly achievement commensurate with appointment preferred
- Active member of the church of Christ
